Iron Mineral Beneficiation Services (IMBS) is a South African company focused on the production of metallic iron units. IMBS has developed Finesmelt™, a cost efficient technology capable of processing fine and superfine iron ore in an environmentally friendly manner.

The patented Finesmelt™ technology, which uses thermal coal, converts superfine iron ore into the metallic iron units without the need for agglomeration. The Johannesburg-based Finesmelt™ demonstration plant has been running since 2007 and has met all design and production expectations.

IMBS is led by Chairman Sir Sam Jonah, formerly the CEO and President of Anglo Gold Ashanti. The accomplished management team that support him have worked in both corporate and entrepreneurial businesses and have a diverse range of specialist skills. These include mining, chemical and thermal engineering, operations, supply chain, project and joint venture management.
