Prof. Juergen Schrempp: Chairman
Juergen E. Schrempp is Chairman of the Technology Company Iron Mineral Beneficiation Services (Pty) Ltd. (IMBS), South Africa.

Schrempp is former Chairman of the Board of Management of DaimlerChrysler. He served as President of Mercedes-Benz of South Africa, President of EUCLID, USA, as well as Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler-Benz Aerospace.    
 
Mr. Schrempp was a leading contributor in the creation of EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company). He became Chairman of Daimler-Benz in 1995. Mr. Schrempp continues to hold the position of Non-Executive Chairman of Mercedes-Benz of South Africa MBSA). He is the Independent Lead Director of the South African Coal, Oil and Gas Corporation (SASOL), Non-Executive Director of South African Airways (Pty) Ltd., Jonah Capital (Pty) Ltd., an Investment Holding Company in South Africa, and Compagnie Financiére Richemont SA, Switzerland. He is also a partner of Compagnie Financiére Rupert and a member of the Board of Overseers of Reinet Investments SCA, Luxemburg and serves on the Advisory Council of GEMS, a Private Equity Firm. He is Chairman of the Southern Africa Initiative of German Business (SAFRI) and a member of the International Investment Council of the South African President. Mr. Schrempp is Chairman Emeritus of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS and Honorary Consul-General of the Republic of South Africa. He holds a Professorship of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg in Germany, an honorary Doctorate of the University of Graz, Austria, and an honorary Doctorate in Commerce (h.c.) of the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa Mr. Schrempp has received numerous awards and has also been recognized for his civic leadership and charitable contributions. Amongst other distinctions, he is Commander of the French Legion of Honour and holds South Africa’s highest civilian award, the Order of Good Hope, conferred upon him by President Nelson Mandela.     

Sir Samuel Esson Jonah KBE: Deputy Chairman
Sam Jonah KBE is a cornerstone investor and Deputy Chairman of IMBS. He was appointed the President of AngloGold Ashanti Ltd in 2004. He is the Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and serves on various boards, including the Commonwealth African Investment Fund, the African Regional Advisory Board of the London Business School, Anglo American South Africa Ltd and Transnet. He is a member of the Presidential Advisory Councils of the Republic of South Africa and Ghana. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Head of the Commonwealth conferred on Sam an honorary knighthood in recognition of his exceptional achievements as an African businessman, a leading business from the Commonwealth and an international public figure.

INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

Trevor Munday
Trevor Munday's career began in 1971 and was spent in a large number of different roles. These included commercial and financial management positions, both in southern Africa and Europe. In the late 1980s, he was the Financial and Commercial Director of AECI Explosives and Chemicals Limited. In the early 1990s he was appointed as the Managing Director of Dulux Paints. From 1996 to 2000, Trevor was the Managing Director of Polifin Limited which was listed on The JSE Limited. In 2001 he was appointed as an executive director of Sasol Limited, which is listed on The JSE Limited and the New York Stock Exchange, with global responsibility for finance and accounting, risk management, internal audit, corporate affairs (including communications, brand management, corporate social investment and sports sponsorships) and planning In 2003, he also assumed responsibility for the group's global chemical businesses with operations in South Africa, Europe, the United States of America, the Middle East, South East Asia and China.
 
He was appointed Deputy Chief Executive of Sasol Limited in 2005. He retired from his executive responsibilities on 31 December 2006.
 
Trevor is currently a non-executive director of Absa Group and Absa Bank, Reunert Limited and various Sasol subsidiary companies.

David Lawrence
David’s early career was spent as an Economist at the Chamber of Mines (South Africa), subsequently working for the office of the Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister.  He joined Citibank (South Africa) in 1977 eventually becoming Chairman and Managing Director.  In 1987 Citibank’s business was acquired by First National Bank and it became FirstCorp Merchant Bank where David held the position of Managing Director.

 David joined Investec in 1996 as Managing Director, Corporate and Investment Banking and is currently Deputy Chairman of Investec Bank Ltd.  He is a member of the Group's executive management team and holds group wide responsibility for Banking and Institutions.  He is also a director of a number of outside companies, including Cadiz Holdings Ltd, African Oxygen Ltd and JSE Limited. He holds a BA (Econ) (Hons), M Com.

NON-INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

John Barton-Bridges
John is a Director, and CEO of Jonah Capital, the pan-African investment company headed by Sam Jonah KBE, OSG.  He has more than 25 years professional experience, primarily in mining, infrastructure finance and private equity, gained in the United States, Canada and the emerging markets of Latin America, Central Asia, and Africa. For 6 years prior to joining Jonah Capital, John was a Vice President in the Alternative Investments group of AIG Investments, one of the world’s largest asset managers. Prior to this, John spent 10 years with the International Finance Corporation of Washington, D.C.  During this period he was directly involved in the financing of more than 25 transactions in emerging economies, more than 14 of which are located in Africa.  

Prior to gaining his financial experience he spent 12 years as an engineer with SRK, and other firms, working in the mining sector in Africa, Canada and the USA.  He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town, a M.Sc. from the University of London, Imperial College (D.I.C.), and an MBA from INSEAD, France.

Fidel Jonah
Fidel's diverse career includes working with Deloitte & Touche's Consulting in Ghana, Balfour Williamson & Sons (UK) as International Buyer and Citland LLC, an American mining supplies company as the Regional Representative for West Africa.  After completing his MBA, Fidel joined the Corporate Finance Advisory house, Sterling Africa in Tanzania as the Business Development Director. Aside from IMBS he is currently a Director of Jonah Capital, African Facilitation Services Ltd and the PA Group. Fidel also obtained an MBA from the City University School in London.

Richard Jonah
Richard was born in Ghana and has traveled extensively in Africa.   He went to school in both Europe and America.   After graduating from Haverford in Philadelphia, he joined Goldman Sachs on Wall Street in their investment banking division where his responsibilities included various mergers and acquisition assignments.  He then went on to join the African investment banking team of N.M. Rothschild in London, where he had the opportunity to explore opportunities in Africa.  
 
Richard is co-founder and director of Jonah Capital, a private African investment company that focuses on creating value for shareholders through innovative investments in opportunities with exceptional growth prospects in the mining, financial services and infrastructure sectors.

Richard is an entrepreneur and holds several board positions in South Africa, Ghana and the United Kingdom.  The Jonah family has been involved in mining ventures in Africa since the mid-70’s.  Richard is a firm believer of investment opportunities in Africa across many sectors and remains committed to its promotion.

Brendan McIlmurray
Brendan holds an LLB from the University of London and is the CEO of the trading division of Grindrod, a JSE-listed company. He is the shareholder representative for Oreport, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Grindrod. Oreport is a company specialising in the procurement, physicial movement and distribution of industrial raw materials.
 
He has over 10 years of experience in the mining industry with Union Corporation, Impala Platinum and Anglovaal. He is a founding member and director of Oreport since 1985 and has been executive chairman of Oreport since 2003. He was appointed to Grindrod’s executive committee in 2008.
